Today a client asked me to use her traditional mop and bucket as a trial. It's her preferred method. I did so and thought I would do a blog with my results. The traditional mop did an ok job at first but as time went on it was dropping more dirt than was being picked up. The floor had been swept but the more I mopped it, the more hair and grass were being deposited on the floor. It was very frustrating and I was getting nowhere fast. Also as you mop the water is getting dirtier and eventually you are rinsing the mop in dirty water which you then put on the floor. It's pointless. The idea is to clean! Not push the dirt around the floor! So now to microfiber. These are THE best invention ever. You don't need a bucket. Just the mop. You can use a product that needs no water and no rinsing. Just spray and swish your mop. The microfiber grabs the dirt and holds onto it. Because it holds it you are not just moving it around the floor. No dirty water either. When you have finished you just take off the mop head and put it in the wash. Don't use fabric conditioner or dryer sheets as this will remove the static from the fibers, rendering it useless. These can be used over and over. A traditional mop head harbours all sorts of bacteria as it is left to dry. For me, there is no contest, microfiber wins every time.
